All About Us
Neighbors for Life
Paul and I met as kids growing up in our Champlin neighborhood. Paul's father built their home and moved in with his two boys in 1985; they were the first to live on the dirt road surrounded by open fields. As the neighborhood developed over the years, my family moved into the house, across the street from Paul's, in January of 1989. Although, we don't remember out initial meeting, we assume we met during a neighborhood game of kick-the-can, ghost in the graveyard or a round of "shadow fighting" (a personal favorite of Paul's). Paul was one of the older boys in the neighborhood and all the girls had a crush on Paul, including me. The neighborhood continued to grow and over the years we all became good friends as we shared in adventures of camping trips, block parties, bus rides and endless summer days of yard games. Paul and I ventured through our grade-schools-days as neighborhood friends and soon moved away from the neighborhood to experience life and college.
In 2003, we were reacquainted in St. Cloud, MN. Paul and I had been attending St. Cloud State University for an entire year and lived across the street from each other, again, and didn't even know this until we were moving out. We both had plans to move back home to Champlin to finish our college degrees.
It wasn't until 2005 when Paul and I went on our first "date". The Gallmeier's and Zehm's were going to Breezy Point for a weekend at the cabin. As usual young adults, Paul and I had our own agenda's which did not include going along to the cabin with our families. I decided to drive up on Sunday for the day and my Mom encouraged me to call Paul and invite him along. After nervously calling Paul, he accepted and we rode in the car together for three hours while sharing stories, reminiscing and catching up on each other lives. After a day at the cabin and another three hour car ride home, Paul suggested we see each other again. I accepted and we have been dating ever since.
After a few months of dating we soon discovered we had been "neighbors" even before the Champlin days. Paul's Mom had a townhouse in Brooklyn Park, where my parents also purchased their first town home and resided a few years before moving into Champlin. We can only imagine we must have passed one another at the neighborhood pool or park as small children, not knowing what the future would hold for us.
Today, Paul and I live in Eden Prairie in a fantastic neighborhood with our kitty, Hannah. We closed on our home in February 2007; remodeled the kitchen ourselves and moved in a month later. We enjoy a short commute to our jobs in the morning and the convenience of everything around us. Paul graduated in 2005 and has been designing industrial and commercial humidification systems for 4 years. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2006 with a degree in Housing Studies. I currently work in the recreation and hospitality industry as a director of admissions for a water park.
